Tyler Mathews (@tyxtyla) is a 29 year old queer artist currently residing in West Hollywood. Tyler spent his formative years in the Bible Belt where he never felt he belonged. After moving to West Hollywood two years ago, he grew a profound sense of self confidence and love for his community all while still noticing the superficial and obsessive nature of Los Angeles. He began to draw self portraits depicting his body, evolution of style and current feelings. All of his paintings were created in a happy and bright color palette to help juxtapose the sometimes somber and demonic undertones of his pieces. Self obsession, isolation and queer erotic undertones can be seen throughout his work.
