"KAWAKUBO"
ROBERT HAYMAN
30" X 40" giclee on glass
subject: LAGANJA ESTRANJA
"I've always been inspired by the enigma that is Japanese fashion designer Rei Kawakubo. She, like Vivenne Westwood, embraces a counter culture subversiveness that appeals to me and often inspires my work. I created this headpiece using two mylar balloons from the 99 cent store...then poked a bunch of safety pins through it. Did I accidentally inflict some "glamour wounds" on Laganja? Yes! But it's that kind of pain, blood and suffering for the sake of art that made this shoot so punk rock." Shot for the YouTube series MUSE ME / season 1 episode 6
