Referencing Catholic iconography is the ritual I perform in my work. As an agnostic trans person, I still use my old religion to produce images of spiritual significance. The stigmata is the wound Jesus used to prove his resurrection by having his disciples fondle the holes in his hands and the slash on his side. Mae is the name I took from my Irish Catholic late great-grandmother.
